The 2017 Nuit Saint-Georges Les Murgers 1er Cru was showing some reduction on the nose, but there appears to be plenty of fruit stacked underneath. The palate is very well balanced, with orange sorbet tincturing the bright red fruit. There is good backbone to this Les Murgers, which delivers gentle but insistent grip and an impressive, attacking finish. This is often one of my pet favorites from Cécile Tremblay, and this year is no different.

The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers exhibits aromas of cassis, dark berries, smoked meats and potpourri, followed by a medium to full-bodied, layered and complete palate, Tremblay successfully taming Nuits' tendency to structural asperity. This is a cuvée that just gets better and better as the vines mature.
