Pale green-tinged color. Lemon icing and minerals on the reticent, pure nose. Densely packed but with a light touch, combining vibrant elements of flowers, minerals and crushed stone. This may be better than the Combettes owing to its stony minerality-or at least it will outlast it.

Intense and smoky with a delicate vanilla perfume. Flattering and generous on the palate, a touch smoky, dry, sustained and quite oaky at the moment but well balanced. (JH)

Aromas of lemon, lime, grapefruit, crushed stone and menthol. Silky-sweet and lush, but with a sappy quality to the flavors of underripe pineapple, lemon, stone and spring flowers. Intensely flavored and long on personality. Not a particularly closed style of Corton-Charlemagne. Incidentally, this includes the juice that would normally go into a separate Quintessence bottling.
