The 2017 Bourgogne Pinot Noir offers crunchy blackberry and raspberry fruit on the fresh, well-defined nose. The nicely defined palate is light and breezy, offering black currant pastilles and strawberry and a simple finish. A perfect introduction to Roumier's wines.

Lower slopes of Chambolle. Some compensation after frost – ie higher yields. But still only 33 hl/ha. Destemmed. No new oak. In barrel until February then to tank when they are ready for bottling, probably early March, which is slightly earlier than usual. Barrel sample. Extreme dark-cherry purity. Tight and dry and chalky. Bourgogne de luxe! Such fine tannins with a lovely dry dark-fruit finish. Dark, sober elegant aftertaste. Real finesse for a Bourgogne. (JH)
