The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Feusselottes is developing nicely, wafting from the glass with an expressive bouquet of cherries, raspberries, orange rind, sweet spices and vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, it's elegantly fleshy and gourmand, with melting tannins, succulent acids and a gently oak-inflected finish. This is already drinking with style, though it will continue reward a little more patience.

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Feusselottes 1er Cru, which includes 30% whole bunches, has a perfumed, enticing bouquet of copious red cherries, crushed strawberry and floral, rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This is a juicy, very pure Chambolle-Musigny with a fine bead of acidity and a touch of salinity brightening up the finish. A delightful wine in the making.

Racked 10 days ago. 30% new oak. 40% whole bunch. Not tasted last year because so little volume – one barrel compared with seven in 2017. (6.5 in 2018.) Had to green harvest because of the vines’ vigour after the 2016 frost – normally she never green harvests and certainly not on this site. So pretty, so red-fruited. Tangy, tart sweet red cherry. Very delicate, transparent, less dashing than the Vosne village wine, less body but so pretty and long. Lightish but persistent and elegant in the extreme. Just a hint of whole-bunch freshness adding a subtle spice that shows even more on the finish. Very fine texture. Not quite ‘serene’ since the racking, suggests Cécile Tremblay. (JH)
