Score 89-92/100 · Drink 2014-2024, Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, May 2011

The 2009 Pommard 1er Cru offers up sweet red berries, dried rose petals and mint. It offers a round, harmonious expression of fruit supported by firm tannins that add grip on the finish. This is a pretty, attractive wine from Pacalet. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. Philippe Pacalet is among the winemakers who compare 2009 to 1959. Pacalet works exclusively with leased vineyards across a number of appellations. Biodynamic farming and non-interventionalist winemaking are the rule. The village level wines were all bottled in December, 2010. I tasted the rest of the 2009s from barrel. I also had a chance to sample a selection of 2008s. Based on the wines I tasted, 2008 looks like a very interesting vintage here as well. Importer: Louis/Dressner Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 334 8191

(80% Arvelets, the rest Chanlins) Good deep ruby. Captivating, very pure aromas of black fruits, flowers and spices. Sweet and ripe but almost tight today, with lovely racy acidity for the year. This fruit was picked late, notes Pacalet, but there's nothing overripe about this very promising cuvee
