Very attractive perfume, spice and earthy depth here, as well as vibrant, red-cherry and berry aromas. There’s very attractive tautness to this pinot with crisp tannins that define ripe red cherries and red plums in assertive and succulent style. The refined power is striking. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

The 30-year-old Clone 5 and 6 vines that went into the 2017 Kiwa Pinot Noir were picked before the rain and included 40% whole clusters. It's a crisp, wiry, medium-bodied wine, with tart cherry and underripe plum notes that finish dry and astringent. Give it some time and hope it delivers more generosity in the future.
