The 2013 Meursault Les Tessons has a pithy bouquet of peach skin, lanolin, dried pineapple and quince. It gains vigor with aeration, becoming a little confit-like. The palate is well balanced with plenty of extract on the entry that lends this beguiling texture. Moderate levels of acidity, not tensile, but it has a lovely sappy aniseed-tinged finish with a twist of orange rind on the aftertaste.

The 2013 Meursault les Tessons is more backward than the Meursault Village at this early stage. There are attractive limestone and wet pavement waiting in the wings to go on stage after bottling, but at the moment it is keeping its lips sealed. However, the palate is balanced with well-judged acidity that lends tension and poise, with a cheeky menthol note on the finish that I hope remains there post-bottling.
