Pale to medium ruby, the 2016 Pinot Noir Les Voisins, aged 16 months in 10% new French oak, opens with aromas of stewed black tea leaves, crushed red cherries, fresh cranberries, orange peel, forest floor and damp earth. Light to medium-bodied, it's bright and fresh in the mouth with a great balance of fresh fruit and earth character, framed with soft, grainy tannins and finishing long. 3,000 cases produced.

Leading off the Pinot Noirs, the 2016 Les Voisins saw a malo in barrel followed by aging in 19% new French oak. This light ruby-colored effort has a terrific perfume of spiced cherries, dried flowers, and wild strawberries. It’s fresh, lively, medium-bodied, and elegant on the palate, with a charming, albeit slightly short style. Nevertheless, I love its complexity and balance. I had a great tasting with winemaker Wells Gunthrie and these latest releases show elegant, vibrant profiles. These aren’t for those craving powerful, rich wines, and they shine for their purity of fruit, balanced, and singular personalities.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Les Voisins is soft, plummy and inviting. Sweet floral and spice notes add shades of nuance to a core of succulent red cherry/plum fruit in this pliant, mid-weight Pinot from Copain.
