Score 96/100 · Drink 2023-2050, Neal Martin, Oct 2019

The 2016 Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a very composed bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and mineral aromas, all focused and delineated with an almost sorbet-like freshness emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a slightly chalky texture. This conveys very good structure, very tensile with a tightly wound, stony finish that feels a little terse but nevertheless is captivating. For serious Pinot Noir lovers only. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.

(22 hectoliters per hectare produced; 50% vendange entier): Healthy medium red. Deep, musky raspberry aroma complicated by complex mineral and soil tones. Velvety, broad and sweet, offering a captivating pliancy to its black raspberry and earth flavors. Finishes rich and very long, with sweet, noble tannins.
