Tasting notes
Sourced from the Red Hen vineyard, a biodynamic site located in the foothills of the Mayacamas mountains owned by Bart and Daphne Araujo of Eisele Vineyard fame. Made by Diana Snowden Seysses, the fruit was picked on 9 September and fermented in stainless steel for 17 days. Barrel-aged for 20 months with 35% new French oak. What a pedigree! Quite impressive life here. Punches above its weight but it’s still pretty youthful with good tannic structure. Sleek texture and no shortage of fruit. (JR)

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Hen Vineyard No. 1 is a very pretty, nuanced wine. Dark cherry, plum, lavender and violet are nicely lifted in a perfumed, finessed Cabernet that will drink well right out of the gate.
