The 2013 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has a compelling nose with red berry fruit, decaying autumn leaves, morels and light loamy scents. Wonderful. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, taut and crisp, and very focused with a sappy finish that contains a modicum of rusticity imparted by the growing season. Lots of character here, a wine that is drinking ideally now yet needs two to three hours of decanting.

Deep, bright red. Knockout pristine perfume of pomegranate, raspberry, rose petal, minerals and iron; almost metallic in a positive way. Youthfully imploded on the palate, with tart, pungent red berry flavors complicated by a noble vegetal aspect and hints of licorice and ginger. Wonderfully sappy wine with outstanding inner-mouth tension--and totally unadorned. WIth its firm tannic spine and tightly coiled energy, this will need a good decade to unwind in the cellar.
The 2013 Clos St Denis Grand Cru possesses an outstanding bouquet that has wonderful delineation and complexity, a melange of red and black fruit, each infused with mineral/cold stone scents. There is an effortless element about the palate that is harmonious and supremely focused. The filigree tannin and wrapped in a silky texture and there is frisson and energy on the finish. There is plenty of substance here and so it will deserve several years in bottle. It may merit a higher score in the future.
