A t ouch of rose petals, a hint of bacon fat and red fruit. Firm, chalky tannins. Fair length. The best of this set. (TJ)
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Clos des Réas 1er Cru comes from the 2.12-hectare monopole of the domaine, though 0.4 hectares was pulled up two years ago for replanting. It has an attractive bouquet of well-defined black cherries, blueberry and hints of cassis and orange peel aromas. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry. There is good depth here, although I find that the Aux Brûlées has better assimilated its new oak. The finish is a tad disjointed at the moment.
Monopole. Very attractive nose, lots of dark fruit with some spice, nutmeg and a herbal edge. Redcurrant and spice and tight tannins at the moment. Well-proportioned and a long clean layered finish. (AC)

The first vintage of Domaine Michel Gros – one of the many Gros family estates in Burgundy – was 1979. The property has several prized vineyards including its monopole Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru, Clos des Réas.
