The 2018 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru has quite a fragrant nose with blackberry, raspberry and light cassis scents, neatly defined with well-integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with a structured, dry-ish entry. Firm and quite "serious", this Corton is surprisingly linear for the vintage, though it is missing a bit of nuance and vivaciousness on the finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

The 2018 Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi is showing superbly, delivering a complex bouquet of ripe cherries, raspberries, burning embers, grilled squab, black truffle and rich soil tones. On the palate, it's full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with an elegantly muscular chassis of powdery tannins, lively acids, and a long, resonant finish.
The 2018 Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru includes two-thirds whole bunch this year, and it is very well integrated into the blackberry and raspberry fruit. There is fine detail here. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, quite focused and full of tension. The detailed, saline, white-pepper-tinged finish lingers in the mouth. Recommended.
