Intense, almost essence of Pinot Noir! Very juicy start. Then finely judged intense fruit within a corset of fine tannins, there in abundance. GV (JR)

The 2017 Volnay Les Carelles 1er Cru includes 10-15% whole bunches. The nose is missing the same drive and fruit concentration as the Les Caillerets. The palate is better with tart red cherry fruit mixed with crushed stone and a touch of balsamic, although I find that the Les Caillerets has more panache and density on the finish. I will be cautious with my score for now.
