The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru has a curious bouquet. A little yeasty in style, with touches of honeysuckle and melted candle wax. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, quite concentrated with orange rind and citrus notes. But, I cannot help feel that it is missing a bit of flair on the oaky finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Bottled. Edgy and exciting and with the richness of the vintage. Will presumably always please. (JR)

The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Champ Canet 1er Cru has a crisp, slightly menthol bouquet that manifests more mineral/flinty aromas with aeration. It comes across more exotic than Boillot's Les Referts. The palate is well balanced with a fresh entry, a fine bead of acidity, subtle tropical notes of passion fruit and pineapple developing towards the finish. This is a delicious Champ Canet, one that will be difficult to resist in its youth.
