Textured on the nose somehow. Mid weight and very sculpted. Crisp and with some ‘mineral’ and citrus qualities. Not mind-blowing but very competent indeed. (JR)

The 2014 Chassagne-Montrachet les Battaudes, from clay soils and matured in 30% new oak, has a fragrant nose of white flowers, white peach and a touch of Japanese yuzu--all well defined and nicely integrated with the wood. The palate is vibrant on the entry with crisp acidity, orange peel and and a touch of blackberry leaf, the acidity nicely judged and conveying a sense of harmony and refinement on the finish that is almost Premier Cru in quality. Excellent.
