Nicely integrated, creamy cinnamon notes from pretty fine-quality oak, marrying with an attractive berry fruit character. There’s good density of fruit here, balancing the firm, quite fine tannic structure. This will mature rather nicely. For a grand cru, VGV ! (TJ)

The 2018 Corton Grand Cru comes mainly from Regniers, de-stemmed with 25% new oak. A high-toned bouquet of blueberry and crème de cassis aromas pulls this Corton away from its terroir expression. The palate is sweet and candied on the entry, with succulent tannins. A very pleasurable Corton, although it does not quite deliver the complexity of Marchand-Tawse’s other Grand Crus this year. Four barrels produced.
