The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has an open, vibrant bouquet of black cherries, bergamot and cranberry fruit, all finely delineated. The palate is medium-bodied and nicely detailed, with leafy red fruit and a slightly granular, structured, almost Morey-like finish. There is a more glossy sheen to this than I was expecting, and I think it will gain more clarity on the finish. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru contains 70% whole bunch fruit. It has a charming red cherry and crushed strawberry bouquet with fine delineation. The medium-bodied palate offers supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity and pretty tart red fruit, but I would be seeking just a little more substance on the finish. Perhaps that will develop by the end of élevage .
