FINE+RARE Tasting Note

Brooding nose, nice subtle earthy, savoury notes and dark chocolate and uplifting floral violet notes. Nice even-set tannins in the mid palate, decent not over ambitious structure. Good balance of ripe fruit and savoury tones. No greenness but good tension. Decent length too. Very elegant, with Pomerol typicity – generous and with some earthy, character. Medium intensity, medium body. Already quite approachable.

Tasted blind. Bright purplish crimson. Something a little rank on the nose. Straightforward, soft and ready, but not compelling. (JR)

Lots of mulled black cherries, cedary herbs, and dried flower notes emerge from the 2019 Château Bonalgue, a medium to full-bodied, elegant Pomerol that's mid-weight yet balanced and charming. It should drink nicely for 10-12 years.

From a sandy, early-ripening site, the 2019 Bonalgue offers up aromas of plum preserve, kirsch, licorice and mocha. Full-bodied, velvety and fleshy, it's layered and succulent, with melting tannins and a round, extroverted profile. This isn't built for the long haul, but it will deliver plenty of near-term pleasure.
