FINE+RARE Tasting Note, Jun 2020

Smoky nose with hints of coffee bean, sweet leather and light savoury wet leaf notes. Open knit fleshy fruit but not expansive on the palate and chewy tannins

Vinified by Château Talbot's Jean-Michel Laporte, the 2019 Sénéjac delivers aromas of smoky blackberries, pencil shavings and loamy soil, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and charming palate framed by fine tannins and concluding with a saline, mouthwatering finish. It's a fine effort that comes recommended.

The 2019 Sénéjac, matured in 30% new oak, has retained its lovely mulberry and raspberry scents on the nose, though it’s perhaps a little livelier and more vivacious than I remember from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied and elegant, with fine tannins, tart red fruit and gentle grip. That salinity is still intact, and there’s a bit more length than before. Very fine.
