Score 93/100 · Drink 2022-2050, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jun 2020

The 2018 Mercurey 1er Cru Champs Martin Rouge offers up brooding aromas of plums, blackberries and cassis, complemented by hints of dark chocolate and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, supple and enveloping, it's fleshy and gourmand, with a dramatic core of fruit, powdery tannins and succulent acids. A worthy successor to the terrific 2017, this has turned out very well.
