Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2030, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Aug 2019

Giroux's old vines in this lieu-dit have turned in a fine effort in the form of the 2017 Pouilly-Loché En Chantone, a lovely wine that opens in the glass with aromas of fresh pear, white flowers, beeswax and peaches. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and satiny, with a fleshy core but a racier, more tensile profile than Les Mûres this year.

75-year-old vines, fermented and aged in 500-litre oak. Bright citrus and something almost peppery on the nose – perhaps stony and white pepper together – fragrant and lightly herbal too. Not as intense as the Clos des Rocs Monopole but equally precise and mouth-watering and all still in harmony. Good length too. GV (JH)
