The 2019 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru opens in the glass with notes of citrus oil, white flowers, almond paste and mint. Medium to full-bodied, crisp and tangy, it's racy and precise, though a little more texture and mid-palate amplitude might not have gone amiss.

Just one barrel! When quantities are as small as this he has to press elsewhere. He found the second-year barrel too much so changed to a third-year barrel. Lifted and rather gorgeous. Edgy and crystalline. Real spirit of Chevalier. So long! (JR)
