With the 2013 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Derrière Chez Edouard Haute Densité, this cuvée takes another step up in quality. Lamy began retaining even more solids in his musts with this vintage, as well as crushing his grapes before pressing (which facilitates extraction from the skins). Wafting from the glass with aromas of pear, citrus oil, smoke, toasted nuts and freshly baked bread, it's full-bodied, ample and layered, with huge depth and concentration, racy acids and a long, resonant finish. This striking, seamless wine is just beginning to hit its stride.

(bottled in March): Ripe peach and subtle mineral dust on the nuanced but youthfully reticent nose and palate. Plush and tactile in the mouth but also shows superb energy for the vintage. Best today on the tight but very long finish, which features a strong note of ripe peach. This will need a while to deliver on its full aromatic potential.
