Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2024-2040, Neal Martin, Dec 2020

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru, from 80-year-old vines, is made with 15% whole bunch and aged in 50% new oak. Very pure on the nose of small black cherries, blueberry and light violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a finely judged seam of acidity and quite an intense black cherry and boysenberry finish. Lovely silky texture here, although maybe it does not quite deliver the complexity of the very best vintages that I have tasted.
