Score 88/100 · Drink 2019-2028, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb 2019

The Abbadia Ardenga 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a wine of grit, personality and power. This cool vintage has done much to shape the delineated fruit and muscular core of dark fruit that you get here. Despite the intensity of aromas, the wine is subdued in terms of mouthfeel with soft tannins and a loose, fleshy finish. This loosely knit red wine performs nicely straight out of the gate. This Riserva ages in large Slavonian oak for 30 months. Some 5,000 bottles were made.

Some fresh and floral aromas on the nose with bright red berries and cassis, leading to a palate that has a succulent and juicy edge with quite fleshy, youthful tannins. Drink or hold.
