Score 94/100 · Drink 2024-2044, Neal Martin

The 1962 Beaune Clos de la Mousse 1er Cru is another impressive mature vintage from Bouchard Père. Served from magnum, it is blessed with stunning delineation on the nose, mainly dark berry fruit, black truffle and tobacco, again, just a light algae-like scent in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with sublime balance, black plum mixed with sous-bois and clove, complex and sustained on the finish. This is a magnificent Beaune that shows no inclination to stop giving drinking pleasure in the near future. Tasted at the mature Bouchard Père dinner at the Domaine in Beaune.
