Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2030, Eric Guido, Vinous, Jun 2020

Chiara Condello's 2015 Le Lucciole Riserva shows some hints of the warmer vintage, making it a bit easier to enjoy at this youthful stage – certainly not a bad thing. The nose shows ripe strawberries offset by white smoke, savory herbal tones and dusty soil, and sweet florals develop in the glass. On the palate, cool-toned, silky textures showcase sour red berries with a wild and spicy persona, giving way to a mix of acid, minerals and tannin that cascades across the senses. The finish is long, yet also full of energy; as the mouth waters for another sip, remnants of tart fruit and minerals resonate throughout. The 2015 is a perfect candidate to check in on early as we forget the 2016s in our cellars for a few years.
