Waves of campfire oak smoke on the nose, good quality dark fruit extraction, fresh lift on the finish, this is well balanced, dark spice notes, blackcurrant bud, savoury with restraint and grip, and plenty of tannins yet ready to drink in the next few years. The 2020 Mongravey has a comparatively more austere bouquet, backward and tertiary at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with a dark chocolate tinged entry, the wood just a little prominent on the finish at the moment. Give it a couple more years in bottle.
Located in Arsac, this has fine tannins and attractive balance, not huge depth through the mid palate but this is an enjoyable Margaux that is earlier drinking than many.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Mongravey has a classic nose of cassis, cedar and pencil lead, leading to wafts of cloves and fertile loam. The medium-bodied palate is delicately played and refreshing, featuring ripe, grainy tannins and just enough mid-palate fruit, finishing with lovely purity.
