Bright cherry red. Really quite interesting and layered aromatically already. A hint of oak lingers but the fruit is pretty seductive, and doesn’t seem overripe – though it’s quite fruity and is much less austere than the Bourgogne Rouge 2018. Could be great for burgundy lovers in a hurry – though probably not for purists. GV (JR)

The 2018 Fixin Village has a pretty bouquet of perfumed blueberry and raspberry fruit, much better defined than the Marsannay Les Longeroies and more focused. The palate is medium-bodied, the 20% new oak nicely integrated. Finishes slightly savory and peppery. Enjoy this over the next 4–6 years.

Mid crimson. Very ripe dark fruits, veering towards stewed. Likewise on the palate, rather overripe and lacking freshness. Chewy, rustic tannins. Not much fun. (JH)
