The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet En Cailleret 1er Cru sports a slight reduction on the nose, though not as heavy as others, allowing the terroir to show through. This is complex and engaging. The palate is well-balanced with a fine acidity thread and waxy texture, lightly spiced with white pepper and Vervane tea toward the finish. It's a little gawky now, but time should endow it with more harmony and focus. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru from Domaine Marc Colin has such a pretty nose with honeysuckle and orange pith, unfolding nicely over 30 minutes, revealing light grapefruit aromas. The palate displays fine balance with a crisp line of acidity. Admirable weight and density, notes of wild peach and stem appear towards the finish. I suspect it needs more time for the mineralité to become more evident, but this is undeniably very tempting in its youth.
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets is very promising, opening in the glass with notes of pear, fresh peach, white flowers, beeswax and pastry cream. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with terrific structuring dry extract, lively acids and a long, mineral finish, it's once again one of the highlights of the portfolio.
