From a parcel planted in 1964, Faure's 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Herbues is beautiful, unwinding in the glass with notes of peonies, rose petals, wild berries, sweet spices and forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, layered and elegantly gourmand, it's sumptuous and melting, with powdery tannins, bright acids and a perfumed, saline finish.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Herbues was the first vineyard Faure bought, in 2011, populated by vines planted mainly in 1964. This has a very well-defined bouquet of raspberry, cranberry and tea leaf aromas, more loamy notes emerging with time. The palate is wonderful and delivers crisp tannins. Kind of "old school" Pinot Noir in some ways, thanks to the 100% stems, but fresh as a daisy and quite persistent on the saline finish. Superb.
