The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Fôrets Saint Georges 1er Cru has a slightly more savory nose with hints of dried blood interwoven into the black and blue fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with relatively dry tannins, missing its peers' tension and fruit purity. It is structured but maybe a little over-extracted in the winery. Again, it needs more Pinoté. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Rich and concentrated with rather marked tannins. A very different burgundy idiom but this one could work with time. Though it definitely needs time for those tannins to recede. Lightly bitter on the end. (JR)

The 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Forêts St Georges opens in the glass with scents of cherries, cassis and plums. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it's a broad shouldered, muscular wine with a deep core of fruit and a notable payload of rich, powdery tannins. This is a rather chunky, blocky Clos des Forêts that is more impactful than elegant at this early stage.
