Score 93-95/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022

The 2020 Beaune 1er Cru Les Tuvilains is a brilliant wine in the making, and it will be worth a special effort to seek out. Produced from 85-year-old vines, it opens in the glass with notes of pomegranate and cherry mingled with blood orange and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and layered, it's concentrated and multidimensional, with lively acids and a long, resonant finish.

The 2020 Beaune Tuvilains 1er Cru contains 25% de-stemmed. It has a generous bouquet with espresso notes infusing the brambly red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine acidity, a little more lactic than Croix’s other cuvées, tobacco notes infusing the red fruit on the linear finish. Fine, but maybe one of his earlier drinking cuvées.
