The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru has conspicuous new oak on the nose, with more yellow fruit intermingling with lime and oyster shells. Fine delineation, though these aromatics need time. The palate sports a subtle reduction on the entry, impressive tension and energy with that bivalve motif returning on the finish. It needs two or three years in bottle, but this is very promising and confirms my tasting at the Domaine. Highly recommended. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet La Boudriotte 1er Cru is very floral on the nose with pressed white flowers, honeysuckle and broom, touches of chalk and apricot. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, more density than the La Grande Montagne, impressive weight and salinity that gets the saliva flowing on the finish. Excellent.
