The 2020 Meursault Sous Le Dos d'Ane offers traces of orchard fruit, hints of linseed and hazelnut, nicely focused and gains intensity in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a slightly tangy entry, hints of orange rind and fresh pear and moderate depth with a tensile and slightly pithy finish.

The 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Sous le Dos d'Ane unwinds in the glass with aromas of white currants, flowers, fresh mint and bread dough, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless palate with a textural attack that segues into a taut, racy mid-palate and a precise, chalky finish. From a parcel that borders Pierre Morey's Meursault Perrières, this cuvée really seems to have found its identity in the last few years.
Clay limestone soils, 50-year-old vines, 70 ares. Delightful apple and lemon elegance, with flighty orchard blossom too. Fine, mineral elegance. Greater drive and purchase in the mid palate. Energy, and chalky, chalky white – calcaire ! Very long, salty finish. (MH)
