Made with 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon is darkly fruited at its core with hints of sweet oak, herbal spices and dark cherry skin. Medium to full-bodied, the wine compresses on the palate to show juicy acidity with just-ripe, bright red fruit and fine-grained tannins that linger through the delightful finish. This food-friendly Cabernet spent 22 months in French oak barrels, 75% new. Well done!

Silky crimson with some balsamic notes on the nose. Sweet, gentle palate and obviously fully ripe fruit (no virus problems apparent here!). Not very obvious tannins but an appetisingly dry finish. Good current drinking. (JR)

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch has a little more delineation and precision than its Franschhoek counterpart, offering ebullient blackberry and briar mixed with a touch of dark chocolate. The lightly spiced palate is medium-bodied with better structure and good density and grip toward the dark-chocolate- and espresso-tinged finish. A classy and quite sophisticated Cabernet.
