There are two barrels this year of the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe, a terrific wine that exhibits aromas of cassis, plums, woodsmoke, incense and rich soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, layered and intensely concentrated, it's more tightly wound than the two Vosne-Romanée bottlings that preceded it, with elegantly chalky tannins and lively acids.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe is represented by just two barrels this year, the smallest cuvée of the domaine. It has a delightful bouquet, beautifully defined, offering very pure red fruit that unfolds in the glass in Vosne-like fashion. The palate is well balanced with succulent ripe tannins, perfectly offset by the bead of acidity. Darker fruit emerges toward the finish, which leaves a saline aftertaste. Excellent.
