There is just enough reduction present to overshadow what is clearly ripe fruit. The notably finer middle weight flavors exude evident minerality on the youthfully austere finale. This refined and punchy effort should reward mid-term cellaring. (Drink starting 2027)

The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Lavières 1er Cru, matured in one-third new oak, felt very backward on the nose when I tasted it from barrel, and one sample showed a lot of oak, though another was much more refined. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, quite plush red fruit laced with orange zest and a slightly short finish. Fine, and I think the final blend will be quite elegant.
