Score 91-93/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2021

Opening in the glass with notes of smoky stone fruit, pear, iodine and fresh bread, the 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Macherelles is medium to full-bodied, chalky and structured, with lively acids and an abundance of dry extract. A little inscrutable due to suspended lees, it's nevertheless obviously promising.

The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Macherelles 1er Cru has a pretty nose with candied orange peel and light oily/linseed aromas. The palate is taut on the entry with good weight, bitter lemon and apricot notes. The grippy and quite phenolic finish has satisfying length. It should age well over 12-15 years.
