The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Les Barreaux has a well-defined nose of raspberry, blackberry and light violet scents. The medium-bodied palate is smooth and harmonious, with saturated tannins and an easygoing, lightly spiced finish that lingers in the mouth. Enjoy this over the next 6–8 years.

Long, cold pre-fermentation maceration at 10 °C. Up to 50% new oak, light toast. Barrel sample. Purplish crimson. The fruit character is slightly darker than in the two Chambolles just tasted but still aromatic and a touch floral, a little more spicy. Firmer tannins too but they are very smooth and polished. Lovely freshness to balance the deep fruit flavours. (JH)
