The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru is quite high-toned on the nose with black cherries and light pressed violet aromas that unfurl in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, quite sweet and candied with orange rind and marmalade, though the finish is just a little saccharine for my liking. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru has a very well-defined bouquet and, like others, I find this a surprisingly understated and elegant Suchots. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, the 60% whole-cluster fruit neatly subsumed toward a silky, graceful finish that shows real class. Pascale Mugneret has crafted a wonderful Suchots here.
