The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumées Clos St. Abdon 1er Cru surpasses my expectations, especially compared to its so-so showing in barrel. It has a well-defined bouquet, not intense, but precise with green apple, pear and a touch of smoke. This develops nicely in the glass. The palate is well-balanced, with the oak neatly folded into the wine, harmonious and poised with a gentle grip on the finish. This is a very satisfying Chassagne that should age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Chaumées Clos St. Abdon 1er Cru came across a little subdued on the nose when I tasted it from barrel. The palate is well balanced and feels approachable, a Chassagne that will not require too long in bottle and should be consumed earlier than others.
