2019 La Hoya

There's even one more single-vineyard this time, the 2019 La Hoya, from a plot in the village of Elvillar, an east-facing, 3.6-hectare vineyard planted in 1965 on deep and dark soils on hard sandstone. They purchased this vineyard five years ago from the brother of Oxer Bastegieta, who also has a vineyard on this same slope (Tartalo). Like the rest of the range, it fermented in open-top oak vats and matured in French barrels for nine months. It has a lot of limestone, very white and compact soils that produce these grainy, chalky tannins. It's serious and mineral, with some leafy and herbal notes intermixed with wild berries and spices. 4,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2021.
