2016 Nierstein Hipping Riesling Beerenauslese GK

Imagine an intensely aromatic, viscous yet brightly juicy concentrate of fresh Persian melon, orange and lime, laced with vanilla, honey and citrus zests. The sense of liqueur-like richness and the wine’s tinglingly bright fresh-fruited aspect are not as yet quite so well resolved here as is the case with the collection’s Abtserde Auslese. But this elixir sticks to the gums with similarly astounding tenacity. It’s unfortunate to have to judge it at this early date. There were a mere 48 liters, and the wine was sold at auction.
