Score 95/100 · Drink 2027-2055, Neal Martin, May 2024

The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru has a rather muted bouquet at first, with shucked oyster shells, white stone fruit and a touch of lemongrass. However, it coheres with aeration and develops superb delineation. The palate is well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Yet, more exotic traces emanate from the growing season here compared to de Montille's Chevalier: clementine, apricot and a hint of quince. Likewise, the finish has more spiciness. Excellent, but it needs two or three years in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
