The 2019 Marsannay Rouge comes from domaine and purchased fruit from Pataille’s father. Plenty of crunchy cranberry and strawberry fruit that soars from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with cranberry, raspberry and strawberry fruit, but its that chalky texture that really makes an impression. Very minerally on the finish.

Short-pruned for 15 years. Extremely rocky soil. Cask sample. Very deep gold . Lightly matchstick with a very rich start. Rather gorgeous and definitely off-piste. Real grip. A tannic white. (JR)
