Score 89/100 · Drink 2020-2028, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jun 2020

Offering up aromas of pear, buttered orchard fruit, citrus oil and toasted almonds, the 2018 Pouilly-Fuissé Clos des Quarts is medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, with good depth at the core but a rather tart, poorly integrated spine of acidity, which is a characteristic it shares with Merlin's own Pouilly-Fuissé bottlings—and its 2017 counterpart. The debut releases of this revived estate were promising, so I'm still inclined to give this the benefit of the doubt, but we'll see how it evolves.

Rather rich and floral on the nose. Lower acidity and a richer impression than on some of these 2018s. Then a light bitter note on the end. I feel this property can give something even more exciting. (JR)
