90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo. 30 months in big oak and bottle. Mid bricky red. Complex mix of fruit and more savoury notes as well as a touch of spice. Seems very youthful, with a long, spicy, smoothly textured finish. (JH)

Dark, saturated and showing balanced intensity, the 2019 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo Nero. This wine offers nicely ripened flavors with medium-rich concentration and velvety tannins. It carries more fruit weight than average, with sweet cherry and baked plum backed by medium-bright acidity. This comes from an ample production of 110,000 bottles.

Wild herbs, black cherries and exotic spices create a wildly inviting bouquet as the 2019 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano opens in the glass. This is undeniably silky and elegant on the palate. Fleshy red fruits are neatly framed by bright acids, as balsam and mocha notes form toward the close. The 2019 leaves a gentle staining of fine tannins to linger, along with a sour citrus hint that adds contrast. This is simply a pleasure today but has short-term cellaring potential.
