FINE+RARE, Nov 2022

Charles van Canneyt owns 0.68 hectares of this Premier Cru, which is at the Vosne-Romanée end of Nuits-Saint-Georges. In 2021, it’s really singing, with juicy and sweet bright fruit that is enticing. Raspberry and wild strawberry mingle, while the palate offers impressive purity and concentration (especially in this generally lighter year). There’s a thread of minerality, with powdered-chalk tannins that gives the wine an elegant framework.

The 2021 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Murgers opens in the glass with notes of wild berries, petals, smoked duck and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with fine concentration, lively acids and a cool core of pure, vibrant fruit, it has turned out well.

The 2021 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Murgers 1er Cru has a lovely, ripe, red cherry and redcurrant scented nose with peony and rose petal. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannins, fresh and saline. Quite a "serious" Les Murgers with gentle grip on the finish. Promising.
